Sattakadir has been founded with the primary objective of promoting law and legal language through the people's language - namely Tamil. To strenghten this primary objective and encourage legal writing in Tamil, Sattakadir has instituted an annual awards for best legal works authored in Tamil (translations etc).

In this inaugural year, a panel of judges have chosen three eminent scholars for their work. They would be receiving the awards at a special function being organised at New Woodlands Hotel, Chennai -4 on February 27, 200 at 10:30 am.
